Car Rental
Many people rent cars and drive directly from Narita to Hakuba. Guests can also rent from central Tokyo if they are staying there prior to coming to Hakuba. Rental cars can also be secured at Nagano station enabling people to take the Shinkansen all the way to Nagano and driving the last hour in a rental car. Other guests rent a car in Hakuba once they are here.
Car rental is quite affordable and in many ways the most convenient. The roads and signage are very easy to navigate these days. The added bonus of having a car in Hakuba can't be underestimated for ultimate freedom of movement.
If you do choose to drive to Hakuba in the winter, you must make sure to get an 4X4 or AWD vehicle with studies snow tires. These snow packages are available for all car rental agencies. Time 4 to 5 hours. Best way is to use google maps on your cell phone (buy a sim card at airport).
You MUST have a valid international drivers license.

Private Car Service
We can arrange a private mini van to meet you and drive you directly to our accomodation. The price is about 140,000 yen one way and can seat up to 6 people with luggage.

Direct Coach from Airport
In many respects, these chartered buses are the cheapest and easiest way to get to and from the airport directly to the door of our house. Please see the below links on Narita to Hakuba bus services. Chuo Taxi – most convenient way from Narita Airport to Hakuba.
The taxi service offered by Chuo Taxi is the easiest way to travel. You can either book an entire van or share-rise with others.
Chuo Taxi will meet you at Narita Airport arrivals displaying your own name card, help you into a well appointed bus or van and drive you directly to the house. Bookings are available from 1 person and the price is set per person (JPY20,000 one way) regardless of whether you are traveling alone or with a group. You must book 5 days in advance.

Bullet Train and Bus (Total time approx 3.5 hours)
From Narita Airport - Tokyo Station on the Narita Express. Passengers transferring from Narita Airport ride the Narita Express to Tokyo Station which frequently departs from the airport rail terminal. Traveling time to Tokyo - 1hr. Costs about JPY 4,000.

From Tokyo Station – Nagano. Shinkansen Bullet Train. Departing from Tokyo Station to Nagano, passengers ride the Nagano Bullet Train. Travelling time 90 minutes. Costs about JPY 10,000 one way. The bullet trains run frequently throughout the day.

From Nagano Station - Hakuba. Buses from Nagano to Hakuba run about once an hour, with the last bus departing Hakuba at 8:20pm. (Friday night 9.20pm). Buses depart from the East (Higashi) exit of Nagano Station from bus stop 6. Go out the ticket gates and turn left. Walk outside the building and you will see the bus terminal below you to the left. The fare is JPY 1500 one way and you need to have the correct change to pay the driver at the start of the trip. Get off at Hakuba Train Station bus terminal. Travelling time 1hrs.

Super Azusa Train: Leaves once a day from Shinjuku station in Tokyo and once a day from Hakuba to Shinjuku. Traveling time about 4.5 hours. Price: 12,000 yen.
